10. Facilitate the exchange of information and understanding about pigeons and pigeon racing worldwide between club members.
The main plank of RML Internationals activities will be the seeking out, research and testing of new ideas, techniques and equipment combined with practical implementation in order to improve the sport for all. We all have our part to play in this and we can all play our part. You do not have to be technically minded to contribute you only have to care about Racing Pigeons.
ETS is not a panacea for all ills within the pigeon sport in the UK but it does offer an opportunity and a catalyst for the changes that need to take place. So while ETS is not the whole answer it has prompted the formation of RML International and it will form an element of its function. RML International is about modernising the approach to pigeon racing in the UK and adopting modern methods and technology to improve the sport for all. At the same time you cannot come first from 20,000 pigeons unless you have 19,999 others competing and so it is in the interest of all to encourage and look after the last as well as the first. It is important to look to the needs of those who cannot as much, if not more than those who can. So these two planks will be the main thrust of RML Internationals activities to push forward modern approaches and to ensure that no one is left behind.
A simple but practical example of this is RML Internationals approach to the Internet. Gradually the Internet and the world wide web becomes more important in all aspects of our everyday lives, not least in pigeon racing. Of course it is possible to live without access to the web, many do, but it is no longer possible to be untouched by it. As part of the basic package members will have access to their own web space where they can make their presence known to the wider world. Clearly many will not have either the equipment or the knowledge to manage their own web site but this can be done quite simply, on their behalf, through the Club. This will also afford members an E-mail address providing communication with that wider world and again for those who do not have access or equipment this can be managed through the Club. Obviously it would be advantageous for members to have their own E-mail facility as this not only speeds up communication but reduces the price and makes for faster, more detailed, more comprehensive communication.
As a Club we aim to be inclusive not divisive, comprehensive not elitist and most importantly fair to all while as members we would be expected to share whatever skill or expertise we may have for the benefit of all.
